My 98 durango is gushing out antifreeze from between the trans bellhousing and the motor.. I looked as well as i could with out removing anything and it doesnt seem to be leaking from somewhere and leakign in to the bellhousing. so whats this sound like? Freeze out plugs? head gasket?( i don thtink its the head gasket because it runs fine, doesnt smoke, and the old isnt milky looking. I am going to most likly pull the trans to get a good look but if you think i should try somethign else let me know.. it is leaking almost as fast as i pour it in..
thanks

i third that it's probably the rear freeze plug. it's almost always the first one to go on the 318/360.

thats what i was afraid of... just because i have to pull the trans to replace it.. but i have never changed a freeze out plug befor but from what i know i just put a self taping screw in there and yank the plug out with a slide hammer then just use a dead shot and a wood dowel to hammer the new one back in right?????

Taking it out is easy, take a dulled screwdriver and tap one edge of the old freeze plug (actual name is "expansion plug")
This will drive the plug side ways. Take a pair of vice grips and clamp the outward side and put something under the edge for leverage. then tap end of vice grips with a hammer and it's out. a seal remover also works when you get it turned.
Get something as close to the size of the plug as you can to re-install. some 3-m sealer around the surface on the block and tap it in, making sure to get it in straight.

So i pulled the transmission and found the problem. Does anyone see a problem here?

The last 2 picts are a reminder to drain the block BEFOR poping the freeze plugs.. the one with the hole obviously didnt have any coolant in it but the other one... yea a green bath was my lesson.
