what is out there that i can swap in to my 98 durango 4x4 with 5.9? Im not opposed to small mods needed as far as structer goes i Just want something more durable and maby more reliable than the chrystler 9.25 rear-end. cheeper would be great to but not a must..

yeah, i dont know what you want thats more reliable then a 9.25... they are beefy axles, only downsides i see is c-clips, limited aftermarket support, and the fact that its a rock magnet offroad...

only upgrades id say are d60, d70, 14b, or maybe a 9".... it all depends on what the use of this vehicle is and what issues your havin with your current axle...

i mean you can swap in 9 inch axles and housing ends but i mean i ran a 8.25 on a 5.2 for years with 33s and an arb and had no problems what so ever, and beat the hell out of it!
dont understand the reason really.

I mean I bought the durango a while back with bad ring and pinion and bad rear diff bearings. I changed them and I am still having problems with noise and such so i changed all the ujoints.. Still have noise and Bass sounding vibrations. Brand new Goodyear silent armor tires still vibration and noise.. i thought maby the drive shaft was out of ballance so i unbolted it and bolted it back on 180degrees from where it was.. still noise.. Now along with that noise i get gear wine when i slow down.. even get a gear sound when i let off the gas untill there is pressure put on the gears do to the weight of the D. Does that make sense? Like if im driving and i slowly let off the gas it makes the racket... untill there is drag put on the motor/trans/t-case/diff. and its not the trans cause i have tried going 55 and puting it in neutral and it makes the same noise.. So i guess im kinda grasping as straws here.

Bring me the truck if it has 3.55 gears in it i have them in stock. Ill give you a five year guarantee that the rear end will never make noise again. PM if you want a quote. But i would not go tthrough the hassle of swappign a rearned in it. A 9.25 set up correctly is a pretty good rear end
