I have a 98 Grand Cherokee Limited with the 5.2 with the quadratrack full time four wheel drive.
At one time this system worked pretty well for light to some technical four wheeling. Here recently it has seamed to not hook up very well at all. I get tire spin in the rear even with new STT's doing as moderate of things as backing my trailer in my gravel drive. I found the vacuum line for the front axle disconnected and can not find where it goes, perhaps that has something to do with it? I have no idea....Anyway it seams to have some action from the front, but theres seams to be no unison.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance

This should be in the tech section.
My guess, viscous coupler in the NP249 transfer case. If this is the cause, Swap in a JY NP242. That will get you a stronger unit with both 2wd, better for MPG, and full time, for foul weather, and part time hi/lo, for wheeling, with no viscous coupler to wear out. Or just go with a JY NP231 if you don't care about full time at all. The NP231 is the strongest of the three.

Not to mention the sye/ds kit for the 242 is double the price if you decide to lift over a 3 inches down the road. At least three/four years ago it was. Just FYI if you are thinking about lifting.

I agree with Rox&Mud, probably the VC
