98 Zj trans options!?

So got code p0783 3-4 shift malfunction on my 98 Zj limited is this a costly fix or should I just find another 44re at junkyard and swap em out? I always swapped the 42re in my 96 bc they suck wasn't sure these were worth rebuilding!?

Anyone ever had this code fixed?
 
3-4 I think is electrically controlled with a solenoid, hadn't looked it up though. If it is a solenoid control, screenmay/valve be plugged or not sealing. Could be a interval trans issue either. I'll look it up later on Mitchell if no one else pipes up. I believe it is one of the easier trans to rebuild from what I've been told.
 
What is mitchell? Yeah I believe from what I've read it is elect solenoid I can fix that with pulling trans if that's the case just pan drop r&r!? Thanks

There is an overdrive solenoid accessible by dropping the pan and filter. It is possible that is your issue but an accurate diagnosis is the only way to know for sure.
 
Yeah I'm gonna take it to the mechanic to put on his fancy computer so I'll not be throwing money and time into this jeep thanks fellas
