Ok EFI guys, this one's for you.
I've got a 99 5.7 vortec, 110xxx miles. It is swapped into my 4-runner. I am using a reflashed 99 PCM and a new painless fuel injection harness, and all new ignition parts. Cylinder #8 is not firing. I can pull the plug wire off and hear and see the arc jumping to the plug. I think it isn't getting fuel. Here's the catch, the exhaust smells like raw fuel may be passing by #8 and not getting burned. The smell is opinion by committee of you know what I mean. The headers/exhaust tube is all new as well. The PCM registers P0308 - #8 misfire. How can I test for fuel delivery or test the injector? Ideas? Everything else about the engine swap was flawless.

The engine ran fine in the tahoe.

Thanks for the help.

Have you tried pulling the plug and seeing the actual plug fire?
If you have spark at the wire, a mis fire code, and a fuel smell I have to think you are never getting fire in the cylinder?

Maybe the spark plug?

you can skunk a chevy plug with fuel and it not fire 'hot', just replace it.

I have not tried that. But, it has 8 new plugs in it.

New plugs.

New plugs. I even swapped the #2 and #8 plug and the the problem stayed the same. The #8 cylinder still was not firing. To me, the smell in the exhaust was the new pipe burning in. The swap was just completed last week. I didn't think it smelled like raw fuel. But, my fellow wheelers thought it smelled like fuel. I don't know.

How can you verify fuel delivery to the cylinder? Is that possible? Thanks for the help so far!!

Could be your spider, stuck open and maybe and dumping fuel in that cylinder causing it to not fire.

Help me out on the spider??? Not sure what you mean by that. Injector or something?
