Sounds like the actuator struggles & wont unlock the door. How in the hell do I get this thing open so I can change the lock actuator out?

Look carefully, and see if you can remove the bezel with the interior door lever/pull on it. On most vehicles you can remove the interior door lever and bezel and then actuate the latch linkage by hand. Then you can open the door to remove the interior door panel, etc.
Isn't there a slide latch that you can use as well? If that isn't working, I suspect that one of the plastic linkage clips has broken.
You are talking about one of the rear doors and not the tailgate/liftgate, right?

I got it. When i was attempting to open the first tine I was reaching in from the out side. My dumb ass was hitting the window switch
.. the lock button works fine.
