99 Chevy 1500 Steering issue

I got a buddy that has a stock 99 chevy 4wd that has an issue with his steering. His truck turns fine going right. But when he tries going left it doesn't like to turn. Does this souind like a bad steering box issue?

yup. you can find them in the junk yard for anywhere from 200 to 45 bucks. car guts in blacksburg has a bunch of them for 45 bucks.
