get sky-manufacturing's straight axle kit for your truck and a set of 73-87 chevy 8" front springs. i like the super lift springs the best. the straight axle kit along with the springs will give you around 14" of lift witch will be enough to clear 44s with out a body lift. you will need a FORD dana 60 front axle to be able to hook up your front drive shaft but your stock drive shaft will not work you will have to have a high angle shaft made once you get the truck sitting back on its tires. the rear of the truck will be easy once the fronts done just dont run stack blocks in the rear

when i was your age, all my buddies and i all wanted the same thing. word of the wise my friend, let it be, let it be.

^^^^^ how true that is... Just do a simple lift on her, go 6" suspension and at most 2" body and just throw some 37's under her... Your looking at about 2500 or so just to do that... solid axle and 44's and all the stuff needed for that would run close to $5k im assuming... heck the ford D60 is gonna run you 3k or so to build....

Can't be sure, 44's run about what? Idk, at least $950 a piece? I like what benji said. And in addition, 37" used militarys arent bad expensive at all (cheaper than my 33's no doubt) and have great road life for a large tire. and if not to your liking offroad, i've heard that they're easily cut too. ;)

I just did an SAS on my 99 Silverado. Spent around 6000 just on suspension, axles, a transfer case and SYE kit, driveshafts, etc... and it's only on 35s. Plus, I did all the work myself and found killer deals on all the parts. 79 model Ford Dana 60 for 800 bucks, AAM 11.5 for 300. Had I not found awesome deals, I'd be well on my way to 8,000 bucks or more. I still have to regear the front and buy lockers. If I had to buy gears and install kits for both axles, that'd be another 1000-1200.

If you don't have much for fab skills or tools, you're probably better off not trying to tackle it.

Trust me bud leave it stock, if you want something as a toy buy a toy. A year or so ago I had similar views, there a shit ton more than just paying for gas.

Keep the current truck as is for a nice reliable DD and hunt around for an older Chevy (73-87) that already has a solid axle in the front and build that. You can find some good deals on the older Chevy's and you can work on the project slowly over time as you get extra money. And during the build up, you have a nice "newer" truck to drive everyday.
