I did a quick search online for tow ratings couldn't find a definite answer. My truck is a 99 ext cab short bed cummins 5 speed 410 gears. I saw there were 3 rating around 9k 11k and 13k anyone know for sure what my truck is or what my truck should pull comfortably? Looking at 5th wheel campers and found one I like but dry weight is 11k so loaded will prob be lil over 13k

What will suck about it? Just swaying and stuff? Most ppl I see towing big 5ths have duallys so that's why I figured I would ask, don't wanna get one too big then have to get another truck. more than likely will prob only pull it a few times a year to sc beach.

You're going to crush both rear cab corners sooner or later. That's the big issue.

Is the truck lifted, running 37s, or anything like that?

What is the pin weight on the trailer?

Shouldn't hit the cab all the newer campers have the pins forward to clear for a short bed. If not I'll get a slider hitch if need. Pin weight us 1900

I might put air bags on it, but what you're describing is smaller and lighter than the trailer we pull with our lwb 2500. And your 4.10s put you a hair lower than my truck with 285s and 3.73, so that's nice.

The only thing that gives me pause is the brakes -- you've got smaller brakes than the 03+ trucks. Under normal circumstances, I don't have any problems out of mine. But I do have to be careful coming down off the mountain from Asheville. At highway speeds, the trailer is enough of a sail that brakes aren't ever an issue. But you're going so slow coming down from Black Mountain, and you do it for so long, that I have to be careful to keep the truck's rear brakes cool.

I was thinking about brakes being smaller but I have a exhaust brake so it should help me quite a bit. I was waiting to see how bad it squats the truck but more than likely will get some air bags to help out.

There's the specs shawn. I think I should be fine like I said probably only pull it a few times a year to the beach other than that be in a campground.
