2.5 liter 2 inch spacers,31 10 50s...when letting out the clutch the truck shakes like crazy.not all the time but when syarting on a hill or in reverse.any ideas whats going on here guys?
Careful with turning the flywheel. TJ's have a convex (or concave, can't remember right now) flywheel. If they are turned flat, they are ruined. Check to be sure your trans mount isn't blown out before digging into the clutch.
Not to start a pissing match, if you machine a flywheel flat that is supposed to have a "unique contour", you're going to lose contact with the clutch plate and decreased bite. I suppose "ruined" was a bit extreme. An emory cloth is all that's needed to clean and prep the flywheel surface unless you have cracks or checking. Carry on.They are not ruined. The FSM states that "machining the flywheel is not recommended" because the flywheel contains "unique contours"-not specifically concave or convex. It goes on to say that imperfections may be removed using emory cloth or surface grinding equipment. I have had the flywheel in 2 different TJs (98 4.0L and 97 2.5L) surfaced and suffered no ill effects.
The other part of your statement I completely agree with. Mounts would be the first place to start.
