Pardon my ignorance on this. I haven't done any real work to any of my vehicles in a while, no time or space.

Anyways, my high pressure line is about to rot away. Multiple leaks at full lock. I was looking into replacing it myself. It doesn't look hard at all, and will give me a chance to bleed the system of all the various PS fluid I've been putting in over the years to save from replacing the hoses. I'll probably do the return line at the same time, might as well.

Is this as easy as it looks or is there something I'm not seeing? Any tips? Looks to be just draining the system, removing the hoses, and putting the new ones on...anything else?

Easy as it looks. Sometimes it helps to put the front tires up on jackstands to help with bleeding. I generally put some fluid in the reservoir, bump the key, check level, bump the key, check level, etc until the reservoir stays kinda full. Then cycle the steering lock to lock with the engine running until you work out the rest of the air bubbles.

If the vehicle in question has a front locker, this is a good time to add a fluid cooler, too.

I just put new hoses on mine. It's straight forward. Hoses were relatively cheap from rockauto. I took the pulley off of my power steering pump to have better access though.

from my experience the ATF +4 works really well for PS fluid, especially in chrysler built vehicles, i've had a few that didn't properly bleed the air out after changing pumps when using regular PS fluid, when filled with ATF +4, they worked as advertised
