So my AC in the burb is F'd. The air doesnt come out of the dash when the AC is selected. It does when its on economy. air doesnt come out of the defroster vents.

The air isnt cold (no charge).

The PO said they got a new compressor but he replaced it himself and he didnt erechanrge it befor he parked it in the barn for 5 years, (i bought it out of his barn)

I need help. I dont have much money at all but i need the AC to work so i can drive the family around.

Can anyone help me fix this thing? I dont have guages and dont know much about the vacuum system (more complex because of the diesel, i think i have a vacuum pump)

anyways, I can pay you a 12 pack of your choice of frosty beverage.

I need help.

thanks
Chris

vacuum system isn't more complex, its pretty much the same except the vacuum pump is in place of the motor, also you need some gauges and a vacuum pump, suck the system down for a good 30 min, then recharge and see what happens

But.... its most likely r12, which is expensive to find, need special gauges and fittings, converting is also a pain because the old oil will react with 134a and new oil and create an acid that will ruin everything.

this is from wikipedia:

In highly purified form, propane (R-290) can serve as a direct replacement in mechanical refrigeration systems designed to use R-12, R-22 or R-134a chloro- or fluorocarbon based refrigerants. Today, the Unilever Ice Cream company and others are exploring the use of environmentally friendly propane as a refrigerant. As an added benefit, users are finding that refrigerators converted to use propane are 9-15% more energy-efficient.
