track bar's on a yj,how important are they?
put some 3 1/2 in springs under my jeep today which already has i think 1 or 2 in shackle lift on it.my d shaft angle is ridiculous and just is not going to work.i know i need to lower the t case but how far can i lower it and should i replace the lift shackles w/ the factory ones + lower the t case? any help will be great!! need to figure it out and b done tomrro bc its my dd and has been down for 2 days now.thanks for the help!

I'm not sure about a YJ, but ALOT of folks that lift Grand Wagoneers say chunk'em after you install a lift. I guess it's a matter of who you ask.

thats what i was thinking but im totally sure?this thing will see more road than trail and i dont want it bust out into a speed wobble going down i40 ya know lol.

lots of people take the track bars off. CJ-7's are similar and don't even have track bars.
For shackle angle, since you put the lift springs on, it shouldnt hurt to put shorter shackles back on. I wouldn't lower the t-case maybe an inch.

my slip yoke looks as if its just going to fall out and u joints will probably bind when turned.i just hope 1 in is enough t case drop.cant afford sye kit right now.

if the lift springs are good than you will be fine w/o a trac bar. definently lower the t case if you dont have a sye our you might dump the yoke out of the case.
Death wobble is usually caused by steering components such as bad ball joints etc. You might get vibrations from so much lift. Dont forget the springs will sag soon after they get broke in.

t-case drop is needed, would not hurt to put a 1 in body lift so you can install a 1in motor mount lift. That will help driveline vibration. My buddy drives a lifted yj. He just had a new drive shaft made. Hell of a lot cheaper than a sye and driveshaft combo. Just depends on what kind of wheeling you like to do.

Track bar can be ditched. I have driven from here to Tellico and back MANY times with no track bar. It might not handle as well but it works just fine.

Have you road tested it since you did the lift? If the rear DS is binding you might be able to get by with a small tcase drop. Try putting one longer bolt in at each skid plate corner, don't tighten all the way, get them in a half inch or so and let the tcase skid rest on the heads & washers, then see how the DS looks. I have even driven around the block, carefully and slowly like this to check things out :)

I have never understood the lowering t-case, must be a Jeep thing :D Do a shackel reversal and move the front axle forward a little which might solve the driveshaft issue.

Just doesn't make sense to me to raise the suspension just to lower the t-case, I am sure there are ways around this IF you actually plan on wheeling it.

got it!

lowered the t case 1 in and put 6 degree shims on the axle to correct the d shaft angle and it worked out pretty good.thanks for all the help guy's!!:

If its SUA trac bars are not needed but SOA highly reccomended unless you run huge leaf packs which=no flex I made a ladder bar for mine out of tractor top-links had to rework it 3 or 4 times but its holding strong now and less than 1/2 price of what you will spend on one from someone else. Wouldn't go more than 1inch tcase drop and go for SYE when you save up some $$$ it will save you some in the long run.

yeah its sua,w/2 1/2 in shackle's 3 1/2 spring's.drive's good but not as good as stock. so im going to garbage the rear sway bar and make a beefy bracket for the front s b and some sort of quik disco for it just bc i would like it be hooked up for the pavment and not b as sloppy.
