A few idiots ruin it for the rest....

I hope they throw the book at every single one of them.

Sucks, but obviously they need to open up some ORV trails in that National Forest.

I hope they get what they deserve, but it hurts our sport/hobby to no end when this type of abuse appears in the media.

I agree, throw the book at them, I am appalled that they title them "Off-road enthusiasts", they are no such thing.

There USED to be a lot of trails in that forest.
They've been slowly closing them down, because people are stupid.
There was an incident ~2 years back up there where idiots drove THROUGH the city reservoir for Lynchburg.
They actually drove OVER the fence to knock it down to get out there and play in the mud.

I agree, throw the book at them, I am appalled that they title them "Off-road enthusiasts", they are no such thing.

Yep that got me too. I hated that the writer used that terminology. They sure aren't "Off-road enthusiasts". I'd like to see the judge put them in orange jump suits and make them do the repairs at a minimum wage rate until they have paid the fines back. If all they get are fines then mommy and daddy will probably bail them out and they won't learn a thing.

The MUD BOGGERS do it to the sport/hobbie again, I know not all are bad, there is the few that respect the land and only wheel at legal places but it is starting to make us all look bad.

This is kind of off subject but I guess they chose the right person to headup the Forrest Patrol. With a name like "Woody Lipps" what else could he do for a living?

I've been mudding for a long time, and i've seen this time and time just a few jackass mess it up for everyone. I agree throw the books at them!

i agree to throw the books at them and then make them work off the fines by replanting all it.

There are always going to be the crowd that screws everything up. Some people have no respect for anything.

On a lighter note.... it is ironic that a man that works for the forrestry service has a name like Woody Lipps

"The practice, known as "mud-bogging," has caused about $30,000 worth of damage to a section of the Jefferson National Forest in Botetourt and Craig counties, said WOODY LIPPS, law enforcement patrol captain for the forest service."

lmfao, not at the crime, as i was reading the article i noticed that it said, the off road enthusiasts spin there oversized tires w/ their " souped up pickup trucks" ! good stuff, yeah haw, you cousin f#@kers get in the truck, we gonna go a mud whompin!, i will have to agree w/ everyone,, don't down the sport we love, punish the dead to the fullest!,, not all of us are morans, and some actually care about our surroundings while trail riding.:wtf:

lets hear it for the souped up pickup trucks....yahoo

"Mud-boggers usually drive traditional sport utility vehicles or souped-up pickup trucks with oversized tires."

that makes it look like everybody with mud terrains drive mud boggers and thats deff. not the case.

and as for the people that tore it up they should have to fix it themselves and then they would see why they are in trouble cause how many people like landscaping?
oh and i like me some tomato soup

Maybe they should confiscate those, and donate them to a guy up in Danville, VA. He runs a nifty little TANK MUSEUM. I'm sure he could think of a better use for them.

Alright, the writer of the article is obviously an idiot, I agree that the few idiots who do this kind of damage should be punished completely and have there rigs confiscated, but reading that article is just frustrating, he basically calls anyone with a big truck or lifted jeep/yota/whatever a jackass. I admit I have done my fair share of wheeling in places that I am not allowed, but at the same time Ive never done any serious damage anywhere. We really are running out of places to wheel in the area legally.

Off-road enthusiasts are in a similar position as animals, almost, as the land we have always wheeled slowly pushes us out via the long arm of the state, we are forced into smaller and smaller areas, and eventually, to prevent our desire to wheel from killing us we may sneak off somewhere we aren't supposed to... Lol. Not excusing the damage at all, especially to a place that actually lets people wheel in limited areas. Just saying that we all want more space to wheel and it would be damn nice to have it.

Seriously, you guys are still goin on about the idiots? can anyone on here read? All I read before I cracked up was, Forestry Service Officer "Woody Lipps!":fuck-you:

The price I pay for skimming :flipoff2:
