I went to the Mega Web Toyota City Showcase today. There was a bunch of cool automotive technology for the engineer in me, a bunch of super econo-boxes that were forgettable, and a few things I wish were on the showroom floor in the US:

And a picture of an FJ with a suspiciously wide viewing angle.

I see those 70 series cruisers all over when I'm traveling for work. You can get them single or double cab with a tray bed, 4 door wagons like that one, or a 2 door troop carrier. Some of them have a sweet 4.5l turbo diesel that makes good power but can also be be twin turbo'ed for about 300hp/500lbft.

My solid axle trooper is about as close as I can get

the cruiser 70, i think we call that an isuzu trooper stateside.

ECGS was recently building a bunch of Dana 60 rears for those Hilux trucks!

Nah, they are a totally different animal. All toyota drivetrain, solid front axle, cruiser price tag. They have a similar rear door set up, but the bigger door is on the right with the cruisers.

We have been trying to get Toyota to bring in the 70 series for decades now. We have some older ones here now. Once they hit 25 years old then they can legally be brought over here. I have worked on a few 70 series here but I mostly worked on them overseas.
