A lil help...legal matter

I receive a letter from Hollywood video saying that I did not return a DVD. I knew I had because it was disc 3 from Six Feet Under and I would return each one and get the next one...and since disc 3 isnt the last one there is no way I could have kept it, since I was doin this exchange within 1-3 days. Anyway Ive looked all over my apartment and I certainly do not have it.

I just got off the phone with the manager and he says they dont have it. I tell him what happens next and he says the only way to end this is to pay for the disc, i tell him no way am I paying for a disc I returned (especially since the discs are not available individually and SFU seasons cost 80 bucks). They do not have my credit card number so he says that after 50 days the matter is passed to collection and he says that would be in my record...kinda like a bad credit thing? The example he cited that if I try to rent an apartment they would see that Hollywood Video has a hold against me and so on. Is this true? Sounds a lil like BS, I mean I know they do that thing with your credit rating like if you have bankruptcy or stop paying ur rent...but with a single DVD? How would they go about this anyway they dont have my SSN, nor credit card...

Anyway...what do i do?

I used to work at family video and were alot nicer. Tell him give you the benifit of the doubt and to take the rental off your account or you will take your business somewhere else. Tell him to search the store by printing a list off and go thru each section checking eack movie is with it's ad box. Family Video does this every week to ensure that the employee didn't screw up and not check it in, or something didn't get stolen.

They can hit your credit sometimes, at least Block Buster can. I have and still not watched "I Know What You Did Last Summer" that my ex rented under my name like 3 maybe 4 years ago. I wonder if that's why I have bad credit?

good luck

Yea all solved. The manager called me back and said not to worry about it, that he took it off my account. I wasnt worried, I was just wanting to know if I should call BS on him about the credit rating thing he said to see if he was just tryin to scare me...but I guess he was nicer than I imagined and did the right thing.

There's no way HBO on demand has the selection Netflix has. It might work for you for current stuff, but you're comparing apples and oranges when you compare the two.
