I just today purchased the new warn 9RC but the thing is that it inly has 50 feet of line after considerin i thought that it might be to short and i should take it back and get the DX9000. it has 100 feet of cabel i am not sure witch would be the best. Any thoughts would be greatly appriceated.
Thanks,
Nick

Well, first off its Which, not witch.. Second, only you can make a decision on which you need.. you know the kind of trails you run and how much length you think you need. If you run a lot of trails with less things to tie into then get the winch with more cable, if you run trails where there is something to winch to all the time then get the smaller winch with less cable.

I have needed more than 50 ft. of winch line, probably half the times i have winched.(and thats alot of winching)

The 9RC is a very cool winch, but in my opinion, it should have more cable, somehow.

I have the HS9500, with 100 ft of rope. Its a good winch, but I think its too fast, at least while spooling in. It should have a stop button.

Anyway, i would go with more cable. Its probably less $$$

You have a few easy options..

Sell the 3/8 rope and get 5/16" rope, you can probably fit 75' on the drum.

Orrrrr... buy a 50' extension.

The XD9000 is a piece of shit next to the 9.0 or 9.5 series. No comparison.

You may run into several situations where you need more than 50' of rope, but I've never seen a pull that required more than a 50' tug. Usually it's about 10-20', but you may have to unwind 75' to get to a good winching point. I would get an extension rope. You can keep it in the trunk and use it to tug somebody, or hook it to the winch if you need the length. If you really want some cable, though, I'll trade you my 8274 for that 9 RC straight up! :D
