Some other thoughts -
- Don't you have an oil furnace? Consider adding a humidifier, either a whole house deal or just in your shop. Furnaces are notorious for drying out air. I have the same problem every year, this year has been really bad w/ it so cold our furnace is going all the time. A few weeks ago I broke down and turned on the whole house humidifier and the difference in my knuckles is dramatic.
- ware the tough nitrile or polypro-nitrile black gloves while working on the shop stuff. This (a) keeps teh hands cleaner, les swashing, and (b) your hands will sweat more, stay more moist. Yes, less comfy but its the tradeoff against dry dryness or lubed-up greasiness.
