I want to begin this by saying this is Not about me. With that out of the way let me begin. At URE today a young man drove up to my cart and explained that this was his first time at URE and he was lost! I showed him the map that Draider90 had made and gladly hands out for free, he was elated. He immediantly seen exactly where he was(U R here arrow) and began researching the map for trail info! I pointed to the trails that begins at the double parking lot.
I asked him to hang out a while and maybe he could tag along with some good people that would be good trail guides. The conservation soon explained why he was alone, he was transferred last week from Va. to Camp Lejune and was being deployed AGAIN to Aphganistan. He wanted to get in a couple of rides in before he left!
Sure enough, some friends showed up and intro's were in order and after a few dogs, drinks and a few laughs new friends were made. The Trail Jammers left with the Marine in their care and were gone. I know he had a great day of riding!
Ely made the map, I gave the map, the Marine accepted the map with thanks, The Trail Jammers became trail guides. I know he will take this day of memories with him where ever he goes. THIS is what it's about! Thanks for reading, end of story.

Very nice, I too will be wheeling for the first time soon and I hope that I encounter people such as yourself to give me aid along the way.

this story reminds me of a Soldier named Mike that rode with my group back on May 1st, he is deploying sometime this month as matter of fact. We nicknamed him Tierod....

God Bless all our Military men and women :usa:

Are you going to be there tomorrow?

I'm afraid not, gotta take a day off. did a birthday party friday night and URE sat, with the heat I'm just drained. But we'll be at the flats the 24th. Thanks for the words, just thought somebody would like to read it. Thanks for the link, I understand that it feels good to help.

Terry as custodian of the double parking lot, a friend to everyone, and Your hot dog guy, to everyone. I think one of the clubs should step up and supply you with maps to give out. It could also include some easy words of wisdom about riding, and trail etiquette.

That is a GREAT idea

Thanks for sharing, Terry, that's a great story!

I met Your Hot Dog Guy for the first time yesterday and I must say ya'll were two of the nicest people I've ever met at Uwharrie. We were parked behind ya'll, my brother lost his ipod and if it hadn't been for ya'll it would probably still be in that hole! Thanks again and we'll def have to try a dog next time!

Thanks, I just print the maps myself and all it costs is the ink. But I wouldn't turn down a few. Let's give Draider90 a "atta boy" for making and giving everybody on line the maps in the first place. While I'm at it, for those of you that don't know this. Draider90 has stepped up and has put new life into the trail maintance at URE. He has (with help) communicated with the Forest Service and arranged with the volenteers and FS personnel the 3rd saturday of EVERY month! The trash has noticebaly reduced in volume and their are a few new gaurd rails. I'm getting off the subject of this thread and I'm sorry. Check this out in the "Friends Of URE" section.
Bashed ,glad my wife could help find the Ipod. Welcome to the forum and check out the Upcoming Events section and look at the Benifit ride, show, that Rock Corps. is putting on this coming weekend! Hope to see you there.

I was glad to help out, it is a good thing to help out anybody that needs guidance, Hey terry, the fed up sticker in blue looks nice.

You think the blue looks good, ya oughta see the clear ones for the windshield! LMAO

I'll have them at the Flats!
