Does anyone out there know an answer to the following...i have a 99 wrangler 6 cly that has become a big? It will increase in rpm up to 1500-2000 when put into park or neutral, but only after it has warmed up.I have had it worked on by a local 4x4 shop and have had the ECU,throttle control valve, and the clock spring disconnected. The problem ceased and now has returned,it only happens in park & neutral and will go back to 700-800 rpm when you send it up to 3000...it has already caused me one wreck,so,HELP!

i can't add anything to this thread but i can say your new "paint" job looks pretty awesome... i'm a huge fan after seeing it in person.

Thanks Erik....I thought that was you.I am clueless at this point and I think so is big "D".Ive got to some how get this thing fixed though...........

Have you tried to push the throttle cable back manually? Sometimes when a cable is worn, and gets warm the cable expands and sticks. Wifes car did that and we had to replace it, then no more problems

Probably the Idle Air Control Valve. It is very easy to replace, located on the throttle body. I've had that same problem on my 2000 4.0 TJ.

Does it do it with the throttle cable unhooked? Why would you change the ECM?

Did the throttle body and IAC passages get cleaned?

You can bring it by to my shop if you want to get it fixed
