? about a cj5 and a TJ

ok so here is the ? I want to know how hard or if it can be done. I have a 78 cj5 with a fiberglass body on it and I want to know if you can put a TJ frame and coil suspension under a cj5 so pretty much put a tj frame with a cj5 body and a amc V8 and T176trans and A dana 300 transfer case drive train

You want to set the 5 body on a tj frame? I don't know why it wouldn't work considering people do more elaborate builds. The real question would be how short the 5 body is compared to the tj. Would you stretch the front of the hood or the rear?

yea that's what I want to do I no the tj frame would be to long so it would have to be shorted up but I am just wondering what elso would have to be done

You'd have to shorten the frame, fab new body mounts and motor, tranmission and tcase mounts. Then you have the problem of mismatched drivetrain. The TJ front axle is drivers side drop, but your dana 300 is PSD, so you would need to at the very least flip the Dana 300 and make new driveshafts

ok thanks. is their anyother benefits of doing this besides the coil suspension setup because I think thats more then I want to get in to?

More trouble than it is worth. With the amount of fab work you could have built a true buggy.
