I have a leak in my AC syatem. I had it recharged about two months ago, and now it is blowing warm again.

My question, is it worth using one of those auto parts store AC recharger kits? Will this make it impossible for a professional to recharge my system in the future?

Also, my jeep is a 93, so is the freon in the auto parts store kits the same as what is in mine?

Depends. I've had luck with some and no luck with others. If your issue is in fact a small leak, the refrigerant with the stop leak in it may work. Like I said, sometimes yes, sometimes no, kinda a gamble :)

Come back over tomorrow, I have a couple of cans and the installation tool.

once you get it recharged. shut the engine off and see if you can hear a leak. it's probably a leak at one of the joints so an o ring is cheap. and yes you can put the part store 134a in with no issues just don't put too much in.

Thanks John, I can go get a bottle tomorrow if you have the tool to do it. Just tell me what bottle I need to get ;)

use a recharge can WITH OUT the sealant in it first, most times the leaks are at the schrader valves in the test ports, or at the pressure switch(s)

using a recharge can with dye in it would be of better service, so you can determine where the leak is then proceed from there.

if you use a sealer can, at least advise the place servicing/repairing your system that you did, so they don't contaminate their recharge machine with the sealant. that shit gums up the works of the machine and gets quite expensive to repair. ( and you'd really piss me off if you ruined my gauges )

It's a Jeep, the evaporator is leaking. x2 on what blkvoodoo says. If it leaks out in 2 months use the dye cause the sealer stuff probably isn't going to seal it.

AC

Check your schrader valves and stems, DO NOT use the stop leak stuff...Have someone you know or someone that lives close to you hook up a jug of Nitrogen to pressurize your system and get a spray bottle, mix water and dish detergent and shake it up, Start spraying down all your AC coils and hoses..if theres a leak itll bubble up. Go from there.
