Question..i have a stock 302 in my cj and i kept the original ac compressor from the motor. (1988). Is it worth it, and how difficult is it to convert it to OBA.

thanks!

brian

It would be a sanden which isnt the preferred compressor for oba but all you really need is a hose barb to npt that will fit in the original output line, a compressor/pressure switch, an on off in cab switch and a quick connect. As well as an intake filter. The sandens require regular lubing through the intake unlike a york, i wouldnt reccomend a typical inline oiler though, just regular oiling.

That's the problem with using a york. Finding one with a serpentine pully and fitting that large fawker somewhere. It won't bolt up to the old ac compressor mount, but one can be made.

x2

That is exactly the setup I used for a long time on my FS Bronco. I would squirt some ATF in the inlet before every wheeling trip. I was able to air up all four tires from 10 psi to 30 or whatever after many wheeling trips without any problems.

i don't mind putting in a york, but i'm just trying to make sure i have all my questions answered, but i'm not really sure what questions to ask! LOL
Caverdave, are they for a serpentine belt?
i found a place on my CJ i could put the tank...

what is easier / cheaper?? OBA or a air tank?? i'm an occasional wheeler that gets out about 6 times/ year..mild- moderate wheeling.......any opinions??

Ive got a full setup I took off a rig I sold a few Weeks back
Inline oiler
Manifold
Pressure switch
Pressure relief Valve
Tank
Quick connect
Filter
Has a sanden style compressor that is nogood.
Id take 50 for everything.

th pressure switch was $40 by itself...o yeah has all soft hoses still attached.

Ron, pm me if OP doesn't buy your on board air stuff. I'm interested.
