Accidental Airshow

Spent today at Myrtle Beach State Park for a family reunion. Didn't know it, but this was also the weekend for an airshow at the MB airport, just about 1 mile from the state park beach.

A lot of the small stuff was pretty far off (stunt planes, parachuterists, etc), but I did get some shots of the Blue Angels as they came over.

We almost had a legit accidental air show the other day as a plane was in test flight and dumped ALL of its fuel as a line ruptured....

Can't say what model is was, but I can say it might be new and expensive. The pilot was a badass though...landed with himself and the bird in one piece...with about 100 lbs of fuel left.


Also, Cherry Point's airshow is in a week or two if anyone is interested in that. I can get on my roof and see a lot of it a few miles off in the distance.
 
For the photo geeks out there, shot this with my Nikon D750 (FF), with a Nikon 24-120/4 (all I had with me). Cropped about 6:1.
 
Very cool. Many years ago I saw the thunderbirds practicing manuevers. It was better than the show bc hey did the difficult ones multiple times

My team and I will be parachuting into the Cherry Point show. It starts Friday and goes through Sunday. We’ll be doing a total of 7 jumps. 3 Friday, 2 Saturday, 2 Sunday. Jumping a C130. Come check it out. We’re the USASOC Black Daggers. We have a Facebook page as well.
 
I'll be working Friday night, so if I can get down there I'll swing by!
