Some may think this is funny, others may have experienced it themselves. but....

Our Dog Semi(have not noticed it from our other dog) goes out to pee, and everywhere she squats, she kills the grass. It really looks as if you have poured a cup of gas everywhere she goes! Any ideas? diet? or?
If I wouldn't be killing the grass with the water hose laying out there or scalding it with the hot water from the hose, I would leave it out and dilute where she goes.
Have a decent looking yard this year and hate she is killing it!

its not acid, its urea, perfectly normal. just wait, til it breaks down, the nitrogen will green it up, so insteadd of dead spots, you'll have thick green spots.

You can try 1 table spoon of tomato juice in the morning might help, they also sell suplements at pet stores for the pee. Not sure how these methods work. The best is to encourage your dog to drink more water (dilute) and feed her less protein in her food. It is the nitrogen which is produced by the protein not acid that is doing this in the grass. This is normal especially in females who don't spray sent like males but generally let it all go in spot.
For the grass I heard that pooring water and then add sugar on top of the grass works the best for the spots.

It's the nitrogen. Take note of where she goes, and hit those spots with the hose within ~8hrs. The sooner the better.

My guess is that females are worse about it because they're generally less interested in marking. Our female drinks less water, urinates less often and in fewer places, so the urine is more concentrated. The male drinks all the water and pisses all over the place. Little here, little there.

Not sure how to do that???

Me either! Our new blonde dog has a bowl in the basement (sleeping/hanging in the AC) and multiple bowls outside get filled when under 1/2 full. I figure she drinks all she wants, but still kills the grass.

Unfortunately, shes a 50/50 (inside/outside) and goes all over the yard, so to pin-point where I need to water on a daily basis is a problem...
