The oak trees around my house are dropping a huge load of acorns this year. Anyone else experiencing this?

The deer I've been feeding in the back yard for a few months have been gone for a week or more They're out eating all the acorns they can.

Spent the first weekend in the woods hunting this year. They’re raining down.
I have a few stands at my hunt club. The one I mainly hunt overlooks a creek bottom and hardly any pines. The acorns rain down so much that I can barley distinguish animals moving through the dry leaves. The squirrels are out of control there too. They’re constantly raising hell overhead which makes more acorns rain down. The deer are still eating my corn though. They prefer loose corn to the cob. They’ve been eating the cob, but it’s taken a while. They’re destroying my mineral blocks though. I just put my fifth one out and it’s only been a few weeks.

We had a wet summer. Oaks love wet weather. In related news I think I found an actual American chestnut tree yesterday. Leaves are sawtooth and not round like Chinese chestnuts. I've got a buddy bringing me some nuts off of it I'm going to try to get to grow. If they do actually root they'll probably die of the blight but I'm hoping that since the parent tree is a survivor they will make it.

I had a bumper crop of pecans on my one producing tree up until 2 weeks ago. Dang squirrels have eaten all but a handful. Needless to say, we will be eating a lot of tree rats this season.

Same at all my hunting locations...doesn't make it easy to pattern Bambi!
