The computer, since I started pimpig the old lady out, she gets dissinfected and flushed on a regular bassis...... :D
 
I don't see any ads on nc4x4 when I browse from my PC. Zero. Ever.

Only the banner ads when I browse from my phone.

Well... you've got 3yrs and 8mos remaining on a regular orange diamond. If you want, I'll swap the remaining time on that one for a year of the ad-free one. I'll extend the same offer to anybody that's got at least 3 years on their ticket.

If I had a little bit more granular control over the subscription options, I'd make it so you could upgrade your regular diamond for $15/yr... but that option would show up for everybody, and likely get confusing.

I will just wait until I need to re new I can deal with the ads . I was just wondering

Putting ads on the site then trying to get people to pay a premium to get rid of them seems sketchy to me. If you need more money from the site just say so, from reading this thread it seems most here (myself included) wouldn't mind paying more. But I for one won't be paying solely on the grounds of zero ads.

Let me try to put this down so you can pick it up...

Almost two years ago, we put ads on the forum instead of raising the subscription rate because operational costs were going up but it didn't seem fair to the subscribing members. We limited the ads 'orange diamond' folks see, because we felt bad about it and were trying not to make anybody mad.

Changing it so everyone could upload photos, because photobucket ones tend to disappear and we hoped it would encourage better FS ads... takes a lot of space and speed to keep up. Servers need upgraded and backing it up so it doesn't all disappear because of a bad storm...

Care to guess what all that costs, per year?

Care to guess how many volunteer hours, per week, go into keeping it running?

Ad-free for $20 isn't 'more'... it's the same as $5.50 plus the revenue generated by viewing ads for the year. So, really, if you're using an ad-blocker then you're costing us.
