I just bought a front cage for my CJ7(thanks spraypaintman) and I can't shut my doors. I just set it in place for now but theres no way the doors will shut. Do they make a special door or cage kit for for the CJ7? I was more worried about the bars hitting my hard top than my doors. Has any one ran into this and what kind of mod's did you have to make?

You mean front hoop hitting the metal armrest area? (Near the door hinges)

Cheap fix is take a few inches out of the top middle hoop area, insert very long and thick wall inner sleeve, plug/rosette weld in place and then weld seam in. Done it all the time on Late Models for damaged areas.

Also might need shorter window cranks to clear the bar area.

I've always had a full cage, then added steel doors later. My CJ never had the tub mounted striker pins. I mounted the striker similar to the soft top latch, on the outer flange of the tub. There was about a 1" gap between tub and door, but I was still ahppy to have glass windows.

Do you have a hard top? There are different kits for hard and soft top CJ7s. The front hoop is narrower for a hard top.

I'm torn between cutting the hoop in the middle and taking about 1 inch out or(this is a big or) notching the doors and adding a filler panel. The hoop down tubes comes straight down I think I'm going to bend it at the dash and send it closer to the dimmer switch to get it out of the door opening. It does hit at the knob end of the window crank to. I like being warm in the winter so I may just take the high road and make it removable and pull it out when the top is on.

Thats true! I have halfway fixed so many jeeps because of time and money constraint's. So I think I will modify My doors because the cage is added safety. How much will I be losing(cage strength) if I bend the bars at the dash so they land around my dimmer switch(the cage is 2"od with .125 wall)? RenegadeT your right it will be windows up or windows down no on the road adjustments and as far as parking break I'm going to remove the parking break mechanism. After I got it together my first trip down throught the woods:driver: I snagged a stump and pulled the cable loose. I'm thinking about a hydraulic line lock for the front and rear(Opinion's)

parking brake...I really like having it with manual transmission, I've knocked it out of gear and had the parking break save me too many times. It wasnt really hard to grab the p-brake lever with the plastic T-handle removed. IIRC, the rod has 2 bends in it, so once you know what to grab, its not difficult at all to find. I always had to point it out the the inspector though
