Ok i'm looking at adding cruise control to my 00XJ.

Looks like i'll need:

Switches
Servo
Clockspring

Can you guys think of anything else? Has anyone on here done it to theirs?

Thanks

I have used a audiovox cruise kit in other cars before and they work great and are simple to install. If your interested shoot me a PM I have a brand new one I don't have a use for, won't work on a "drive by wire" Chevy Colorado.

I'm going to see how much it is to piece together a factory kit first. That way I can keep the OEM look to the controls and such.

But if all else fails, PM will be inbound.

I looked at donig this on my 96. It was simple for the most part. The switches were below the airbag on the steering wheel and the cruise was controled with a vacume module on the passanger side of the engine bay. Basically it looked liek all I needed was the vacume controler and the switches bc all the wireing was there.

I had a cheap/redneck cruise control in my 97 tj. I finger throttle that I made out of a mountain bike shifter. All you had to do was tighten the tension down on the lever and it would hold it in place. think that I had a total of $10 into it.
Don't laugh it worked darn good.
should work on a XJ, just mount it to the gear shift.

not trying to highjack, but that cruise will work on dbw. You have to do a pedal pull with it and mount the unit under the dash. I use these a lot on the new chevy trucks.

I think the Mopar kit had an overlay harness to connect to the servo, I do know the connector for the servo is there, just not sure if it will connect to the PCM.

Ok so far I only have the servo and the switches. I'm looking for a clockspring right now. I'm also not sure if I have the wiring for the clockspring to the switches. Some people said theres is pre wired so I don't know.

I know the connector for the servo is under the hood but not sure on the wiring for the switches. I can get you a price on the clockspring if you need. I work for a Jeep dealership.

I know the clock spring should still be avail, not sure on the harness.

I didn't even consider that as an option, it was originally purchased for an old S-10. I had a trip to Atlanta for training so I thought I would just put it on my new, Colorado, company truck to make the drive a little easier. But since I quit working for "the man"...not too much of an issue now since they decided to keep the truck.
