I vacated to the Outer Banks and got ran off by Arthur the hurricane that rocked Waves in Cape Hatters where we had a beach house rented through Sunday. It was a mandatory evacuation so I thought we get the money back on the stay not didn't take renters insurance for 72 more dollars out over the phone when booked stay. So leaving mad and headed for TN and my mother calls and leaves me a message that my father is back in the hospital and there going to do two more stents. So go through Williamston and the speed limit went from 70 to evidently 55 so I got busted at 74 by state trooper. I immediately pulled over and he came up to the car and asked if I knew why I was being pulled over and I said a would suppose speeding and he retorted yes your very clever. I said I apologize for speeding but thought that the speed limit was 65 and he said where you see that posted and I said back a couple of miles and he retorted times 20. I said I usually don't speed just trying to get home my father is in the hospital and just been ran off from my vacation by the hurricane. He said sit here I'll be back and he came back with the ticket and said see you in August. I looked at the ticket and said how much is this and he said you have to show up to court on the the 4th of August. I said man can't you help me a little I think the 4th is the first day of the new school year I am a teacher. He said you will have to show up or get a lawyer. I said would you recommend a good lawyer and he Sid have a good day and walked off. Anyone know a good ticket lawyer in Williamston, NC that is six hours from my house.

Just watch your mailbox in the next couple days... every attorney in the phone book will send you a letter asking for your business. Stuff like that they usually take care of without you even needing to be present. You will just have to pay the lawyer fee and court costs. Probably looking at a couple hundred either way.

Happened to me several years ago at the same area. I got Joe Hester to take care of ticket. He is in Rocky Mount, NC.

Sorry the trooper was kind of a dick. Eastern people are not as nice as us western folks. Some people let the reputation ring true.... About the ticket, in NC if your 16 over and above 55 its mandatory. If you can make it back and have a good driving record (bring a copy with you) some counties it helps with the da reducing the ticket. Otherwise get an attorney to come for you, the main problem is licence and insurance points.

I can't give you any advice on which lawyer, (and I don't know that area anyway), but if you pay a lawyer to go for you make sure you follow up that he actually went or what he did. I can't count the amount of people I have dealt with that had their license revoked because they paid a lawyer to go to court for them and they got tied up and forgot to tell the DA they represented someone and were not going to be there. Usually it works out. But just make sure to follow up.

I have had a few driving awards in NC. The lawyers will be sending you all kinds of mail on Monday of this week. Usually you can get a ticket taken care of for around $250 attorney fees and court costs.

advice to all those travelling to and from the beach, the speed limit changes often, and drastically. These are called speed traps. It keeps most of the little towns going. kind of like a fund raiser for them. Just watch the signs carefully.

Somehow my wife ended up with that app, and it helped out a couple of times in our travels this weekend. :burnout::driver:
