After market head unit question

So in my 93 Grand Cherokee Laredo I swapped out the factory head unit (only had am/fm) for an after market CD player. When I totaled the 93 I pulled the new head unit. Tonight I went to install that head unit in my 94 Limited Grand Cherokee (I bought it with the factory head unit removed and nothing in its place); and after I connect it, there is no radio except a high pitched noise coming from the speakers. Why is it doing this? What do I need to do to get this head unit to work with the factory amp? Can I remove the factory amp and solve my problem?

Bypass the amp under the rear seat and you will be all good. We had to do this alot when I worked at ciruit. If you need help call me it only takes about 20 mins to do or they may make a bypass plugs by now.
