AI - we are doomed

I figured this is a good place to drop this: my employer told us we need to use chatgpt at least once a week, however ideally it should be a thought partner in your day to day decisions. Today I get an email that we have exhausted all the tokens until next week and now we have to fill out a form to justify the usage of chatgpt . Im putting in evrey comment box "I use it because my boss told me to". I mostly use it to write excel formulas and format documents at this point to check that box, definitely not a thought partner.
AI is almost as dumb as the people being tricked by it.

"“Your generation’s upcoming battle won’t be humans against AI; that’s at least two months away,” he added jokingly. “It’s going to be people with substance versus people with shallow knowledge. It’s going to be mastery versus faking it. It’s going to be people with good taste versus tacky.”"

Gets really good around 4:50

I'm gonna go back and reference, once again, your link to the Harvard Grad guy talking about AI:

:shaking: But did they fire the morons that got them in that situation to begin with? Of course not. Fire the useful and promote the incompetent has been situation normal at the big corps for years.

Finally read this and agree 1000%. Google Gemini results are total crap and the source links usually do not have the source material for the results. In the heavily technical role I serve at work I constantly find bad data and discard it. It has made the search engines somewhat useless to me as I can see that the result lists have changed dramatically in recent times and give me loads of crap instead of useful links I can research.

I was talking about this with a buddy at lunch today. I used to search for technical info and DIY stuff and put “forum” in the search and would get all kinds of useful results. Now it’s just Facebook posts and YouTube vids, which are both about 97% useless. Plus if I’m on my phone, when I hit back on the Facebook posts, it goes back to Facebook.com and pretends that I never searched and got directed from google.

Try looking up a recipe anymore, 5million results and not a single one gives you time and temp to cook at and food safe temp until the 5th ad has run
