I bought a very similar version of this about 15 years ago. It is still working just fine. The oil free ones are WAY too loud.

thanks for the heads up. Looks like i'll stay away from oil free ones....I've looked at those Husky ones before, I like them....

From what I've heard in the last couple of years, the IR compressors are not what they once were. Lots of stories here and elsewhere of guys that had DOA units, or those that limped just to the far side of a year before kicking the bucket.

Kinda makes me wish I'd bought one ten years ago.

Picked up this old campbell hausfeld compressor at auction for $550, hoping to get alot more use out of it. You can open up the 3/8" valve on the tank and it won't drop below 90psi

This was kinda my thinking. Buy old equipment that can be rebuilt and will outlast anything sold by the big box stores.

Heck yeah! That looks like a real "Campbell Hausfield" that the name was built on, not the chinese crap they sell at walmart.
