Why is the popular vote against K&N air filters?

They don't really filter that well and spraying tranny fluid on one (like you're suppose to) seems to attract A LOT of dirt and dust.

The way I see it, if they flow so much better, then they can't be filtering all that good. JMHO

K&N filters rock! I got a 62 rwhp gain when I bought mine, and that was before I installed it!!!!!!


Seriously, when it was in my taco it would get the oil gunk on the maf sensor and cause problems.

I use K&N. I've never had any problems, but I've never seen a performance improvement either. One trip to Uwharrie and you are either buying a new paper filter or cleaning a K&N.

2nd MAF junk, dont filter well

x3 on the don't filter well. Had one on my taco and when I took off the intake tube to adjust the valves there was dust in it.

I guess they flow really well, but don't filter all that well...never really thought about it like that

Like was said dont filter worth shit and on a diesel the last thing you want to do is dust a turbo.

Its a test done on a GM truck...and look....the Delco filter did the best...figure that one. I do agree though the K and N's arent the best thing....if you over oil them the maf or map is ruined....and if you under oil WAY to much dirt passes. Best to just buy one every so often
