im looking at my options for the rear suspension, and im planning on going tubed rear on my truck, i was just going to ask opinions about air shocks since there much more affordable than coilovers. my question is how good would they be for on-road driving. my truck isnt a "daily driver", cause i have a honda accord, but i do still wanna keep it streetable so i can drive it to trails and whatnot. Would air shocks be ok for this or should i consider some other type of suspension.

air shocks are fine on the street with the accompany of a sway bar. The rockbusters I sell :) fair well on the street or the rock equipment air shocks being all AL, they dissipate the heat better reducing 'fade' commonly found.

Do u of anyone running them on the street? and that was my concern, heat build up, i dont know much about air shocks but im thinking the farthest trip id drive at a time would be around 3-5 hrs to go from home to tellico or some of the other trials, maybe to alabama but id stop and let them cool off if taht was the case. You think theyd be ok?

I have fox airshocks on my yota and have been driving on street this week with it (just finished it last weekend) and with the winch helping keep things pulled down it drives pretty dang good for a rig on 42's. I did drive it without the winch on the back and it will lean like crazy so i agree on needing a sway bar or winch to pull things down.

So do you want to bring it to Ashboro this weekend and try it out for real?

As far as airshocks go, unless you get the chrome plated ones, foxs will rust. Bigwoody's is in my garage right now, his swayaways have been on there for a year-no rust.

Yall going to be out playing this weekend? I might be able to come up if i can kick this dang virus/cold crap. I am more than a little antsy to try it out. Its killing me not to be working on a little more tubework today.

Fox's finishing does stink compared to others but i got a decent deal and they seem to work fine.

Sorry about the hi-jack :bounce:

From my research, they're all about the same prices, give or take a few bucks.

Don't discount 'Nuts Rockbusters, they are Radflo's air shocks.

The BIG question is, how much weight do they need to support... you might need to go up to 2.5's..

I have a set of rock equipment. I never driven them on the street. The cool think about them is that if you ever want to go with a coil over you can just by the dual rate kit and add it to the shock.

ive got sway aways on the rear of my jeep and it rides fine on the road. ive got a center limiting strap to keep the rear in place.

Fox has changed their ways. They now come with a clear coat on them.
