Im thinking about getting a 7 gallon air tank. will this be enough to top off my tires after i deflate them for a trail ride?

thanks Ben

Nope, I run a 14 gallon and I can only get 2 done before compesser kicks on. When I ran 35's it would almost get all 4 done.

Go CO2 if you're looking for a compressed air setup (no compressor). I think you can make your own for a little cheaper than the retail version.

if you are gonna have a compressor to fill (OBA) it's plenty, if you just want to carry a tank of air to fill tires, then no, it won't be. If no Compressor(OBA) then a Co2 tank is the way to go

What kind of tanks should one look for to do the CO2? I've found a couple of 20 lb butane tanks locally for cheap, but I don't have a clue what a butane tank looks like.

just go to National Welders (or similar) and get a CO2 or Nitrogen tank. Its small, smaller than a SCUBA tank, and buy it. I think I paid less than $50 for my Nitrogen tank and to fill its only $8. Its small, light (somewhat), and I can use it for my air shocks and air tools. Find a regulator for cheap and you are in business...

Well I also found 2 20lb. CO2 tanks for a pretty good price. Can anyone recommend a place in Asheville to fill them, or is the local welding supply place my best bet?

local welding supply. also, loook on the bottle, the label should tell you who's tank it is (Airgas, National Welders, Machine & Weld Supply, etc.). Usually that specific company is who needs to refill it (liability issues). Sometimes they won't care or even ask, so just try any of them...

machine and welding supply will sell you a bottle, regulator, and a fill for about $150 if i remember right.... i don't know the size but it was about the same as a 10 lb nitrous bottle but slightly taller....

The regulators they sell don't flow enough for our apps before they freeze...

"The source" has a cheap fixed psi reg for about $40 that works well.
