airbag light in 98 xj

yesterday when i started my jeep, the airbag light came on and then didnt turn off, and STILL on. do you guys know what could be the problem?

Sorry, can't help you out on that one. Not to hijack your thread, but I've got an '01 TJ with a similar problem. I'll be driving my Jeep, hit a bump in the road, and the airbag light will come on. After a while, it'll go out. Smack a pothole, and the light is back on. If I find something that helps my problem, I'll pass it on to you to see if it helps.

I really can't speak for XJs but typically when that happens in a TJ it is because of the clockspring.

mine just random starting doing it
like it always came on when i started the car..of course, then it just didnt turn off yesterday

Airbag light came on on our 2002 Grand Cherokee. Turned out to be one of the sensors mounted at the bottom corner of the radiator had gone bad. I think the airbag light will give a code like a check engine light.
