To completely satisfy myself regarding the higher-pressure of the Airtex E2000 fuel pump commonly used with a DIYS (DoItYourSelf for any who don't know) TBI system, I did a free-flow test using a brand new pump. Here is what I did and found:
I connected a 5/16" steel line/rubber hose to the inlet (tank) side of the pump. Then, I connected another 5/16" hose, with a wide-sweep 15 lb. gauge T'ed ino the line which was then reduced into a 1/4" steel line/rubber hose returning to the tank.
With full power (12v) to the pump it registered less than a half pound pressure free-flowing (unrestricted) through the lines. As a result I no longer have any questions, concerns or doubts regarding the use of this higher pressure pump. Another good thing... E2000s are in-store shelf items at almost any auto parts store... nice to know if you need a replacement.
If this helps anyone... GREAT!... if not, that's OK, it helped me.
