ALL input accepted :)

i think it would be fun....in the right environment. just like wheeling...in the right place is great.

Yeah agreed.

To me the right environment would be "in someone else's truck with parts I don't have to pay for." Then I could see it being a lot of fun. :driver:

i would imagine that to practice it you would do so in the same controlled environment as the competition, not outside the local burgerhut when your buddy starts bragging.
don't get me wrong, no one is shitting on this guys hobby. i think it would be fun....in the right environment. just like wheeling...in the right place is great.

your right you do have to practice. and it does need to be in the right environment under some control. you all ever been to galloways show? look at how many people watch the grudge pulls. everyone wants to see some carnage! its just like when someone is in a trail giving it lots of throttle trying to make it over an obstacle, everyone wants to see what happens!

as far as breakage, ive built my truck for the pulls and have competed in them from ohio all the way to florida and have not broken one single piece on my truck. the only thing is my tires have a little less tread!:flipoff2:

Gotta watch out for the stock 7.3 trucks in ohio though. He didnt break either. lmao

For clarity I was attempting to be funny not slam his hobby

But I mean it IS fun....

no slam intended, its all good, mud bogging, sled pulling, grudge pulling, trail riding, rock crawling, show trucks, pre runners, monster trucks, etc. etc... as long as its got to do with trucks or 4wd its pretty cool!

oh back to the topic though, i think you would be better off to use the aam axle just for the sensors and all to work. even if it costs a little more to start with, i think you would be happier with the ride and drive of a coil type front suspension.

chevy trucks already have the best ride and drive of the hd trucks(damn i think ive been around too many chevys lately, but its true:shaking:).

Hey eric :flipoff2: I got them working again so :flipoff2:. Just effin with ya big beardy buddy!

Holy chit, i just read your post, it is true you are turning into a chevy guy. Ill make you a deal on a slightly used hd. I traded you even for that dodge as long as you throw in a boloney samwich!

your best bet, from someone going down this road, get the ORU 4 link with coilovers and the aam axle. Leaf springs are easy and cheaper, but a 12 inch spring rides like crap(ask me how i know!) ORU's kit will fit 40s, which is larger like you are lookin for and WILL ride so much better. yes i know the kit is $17,548 (WTF!!!!!!) but it does come with the dana 60 front already built like you need it, hi-steer,ram steering assist, rear springs, abs setup to retain ABS fuction, and all related components to finish the job. NO missing parts at all. If it was mine I"d do it right the third time, cause i always got to break it twice before i get tired of payin for parts.

Yea I dont sled pull with it anymore :) I did before I upgraded the tranny with PPE stage 4 and ATS tripple lock converter. It really couldnt get enough power through the slippin trans to break anything! LOL. I checked out the solid axle industry website that looks like a great way to go to have a totally custom axle built. I emailed them for price waiting on a response. I really do appreciate all the input everyone. ALot of these websites Ive never heard of. Its nice to really checkout all of the options. I think im going to weigh all my options and try to make the best informed decision I can before I buy anything else.

Also I think I have a guy that wants to purchase the IFS lift thats on my truck now so that will be nice to get some of the cash back.

I think after its straight axled I want to get paddle tires all the way around and take it up to Silver Lake dunes in Michigan that place is a blast. Was thinking about putting some of those Nitro air stop things on it so I can jump it a little:bounce2:

This second link is my buddies dmax that sled pulls and is a daily driver. I built the trans in this truck as well as the one in mine. Mostly all I do with my truck is drive on the road and haul this truck to the pulls since mine always breaks I just stick to stuff that needs 2 wheel drive :(

where is ricky when you need him?
look what the cat drug in
dammit...where the hell is rickey.

Can't ever check the forum hardly anymore, I'm usually either Working, working, or sleeping a fairly short amount of time then working again :shaking:

But hey, on thread related topic - Bumper to Bumper Pulling is where its at :driver:

I dare to say I almost like it better than mud . . . there's usually alot of diesel smoke involved (black smoke is always a good thing) and virtually no cleanup ;)

Course that one Dodge in Mud Life with the freakin huge tractor tires that blows smoke like crazy kinda combines the diesel awesomeness with mud . . . :bounce::Rockon:

Heck thats how i blew the nv4500 in my dodge that first time, was being stupid blowing smoke at an attractive female :burnout:

btw you can def rig up some limiting straps from the frame to the lower A Arms to limit droop in the front

I'll take some of those parts off your hands when you do your SAS.. I'm converting a 2wd 2500HD to 4wd, so the half shafts, drive flanges, hardware, front driveshaft, MAYBE the diff, etc.. are what I'd be most interested in. The stuff OTHER than the suspension, basically.
