Anyone ever flown Allegiate Air? I have an upcoming trip from Asheville, NC to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and tickets are about half price vs. all the other competitors. I'm sure there's a catch/reason...so what is it?

I'm a controller at RDU, and Allegiant is what they call a charter airline. They fly routes to popular vacation destinations during premium travel times, and since they're not sceduled, they can do so at a much cheaper price. I like their company and have no complaints about them. You can expect to be flying on an Embrarier 190(regional jet) or a McDonald Douglass MD-80.

Cool, thanks for the feedback.

My wife and I have flown Allegiant a few times over the past few years. Always on time and good service for us.

Yep, I've flown them. close your eyes and you'll never know the difference. I've picked up $60 tickets to Orlando. It'd cost me twice as much to drive! and 5x longer!

They ask passengers to volunteer for loading and unloading the luggage and to wheel the drink cart which is filled with generic colas and stale crackers. I flew it once and got to read the safety info to the other volunteers, I mean passengers.

The tickets are cheap but they nickel and dime you to death. They even charge for a carry on. It's still cheaper than the other airlines but they have very limited flights, usually one flight per day.

I flew out of Concord to St. Pete and back. I want to say it was $54 there and $37 back. I had to fly out on a Friday and come back Monday...no other options from them in or out of those airports. Baggage fees were a typical rate, but no freebies. It's like flying on any other regional plane.

Been to Orlando a few times with them, its cheap and direct flight, good experience
