Does anyone know where you can get an allen wrench big enough to remove a Dana 60 kingpin? I know it has to be huge, something like 7/8". Thanks!

It's so big, you *MIGHT* find it local.... if not, order one from McMaster-Carr or what some folks do, buy a section of 7/8" hex rod... cut a chunk off and use it in you impact to remove the kingpin stud...

If you can't find one, find a bolt with the same size hex head, and weld a nut to it, then use a wrench. I have never been able to get one out.

Grainger, MSC, or......

Dave's idea is the best. If you know someone at a machine shop, fabrication shop or a blacksmith they might give you a small piece of stock for next to nothing. Buying one from Grainger won't be cheap.

Get a really long 7/8" lugnut. This will fit in the kingpin and about half will stick out. This will let you use a 7/8 wrench or tire iron with or without a breaker bar. You will probably need the breaker bar. If you have a big ass impact wrench this will let you use that as well.

I like the lugnut idea. I'm going to try it. Who knows if the lugnut will survive or not though, I read a kingpin is put on with like 400-600 fl-lbs.....shit!! Guess I need a huge breaker bar.

Huge breaker bar and some heat....like a torch. put some heat on it and you wont be fightin it much. Worked for me.

I ate up 2 or 3 7/8" nuts and bolts, even with tons of heat and liquid wrench. Finally got a 7/8" allen from wttool in charlotte for about ten bucks. Held up to a 5ft breaker bar on both sides. Heres a link: http://wttool.com/p/4010-0105

Keep in mind when you are putting that much force on things, you also want the vehicle to be on very stable jackstands. Even with 5ft of help, I couldn't get it without the heat wrench.
