Am I going to have problems?

I am installing a sye from an old t/c to new one. Both are np231. The old shaft (longer) has a syncro and different speedo gear. It will not interchange from the long shaft to the short shaft. Do I need the syncro, or will I just not be able to shift from 2h to 4h without stopping? Also, splines on mainshaft are cut on the old one. Oil porting maybe??

Oil porting is right I think.
As for the speedo gear, and other bits, do you know what type of SYE it is?
Which brand?
I'd look online for the manual, and figure out what is supposed to swap over.
Being an SYE it's supposed to be shorter.

It is the tom woods super duty sye kit. I am not sure the Question though. I provided a link for installation. The blue sleeve is for the speedo I think but am not sure what problems you are having.

ok, I basically swapped parts and put it back together. now I can spin the output shaft by hand in 2wd, but in 4wd I can't spin the outputs by hand. I haven't tried to fire it up yet. I think I will probably tear it apart and start over again.
