I'm a Prime subscriber so coming up is Prime Day on the 11th. However, they're still slinging some good stuff right now. I thought some of you may be interested in a digital caliper for pretty cheap.

Amazon.com: VINCA DCLA-0605 Quality Electronic Digital Vernier Caliper Inch/Metric/Fractions Conversion 0-6 Inch/150 mm Stainless Steel Body Red/Black Extra Large LCD Screen Auto Off Featured Measuring Tool: Home Improvement

there's another one for a flashlight

Flashlights, 800 Lumen Handheld Light Ultra Bright Tactical Light Torch 5-Mode, Tactical Flashlights Led (color2) - - Amazon.com

Thanks for the heads up! Just ordered one of those flashlights.

If you come across any other deals, please post up!

FYI - for the Amazon-o-holics, this is a fantastic site:
Amazon price tracker, Amazon price history charts, price watches, and price drop alerts.
Provides price history of anything on Amazon.
You'll notice for example that deal on the calipers is nothing unusual
VINCA DCLA-0605 Quality Electronic Digital Vernier Caliper Inch/Metric/Fractions Conversion 0-6 Inch/150 mm Stainless Steel Body Red/Black Extra Large LCD Screen Auto Off Featured Measuring Tool (B017KUC6XQ)

Same thing w/ the flashlight. I have one of those, been pretty good... paid about the same price a year ago.

I use this to tease apart what really is a great deal "must buy now" vs just their usual price "can grab it some other time"

Good stuff. I'll check it out.

The most useful tool is the price tracker. You set a price for an item and they email you when it hits it. I see it as a no-loss opportunity to set a lowball price watch.

Thanks, I might buy those calipers.

I just bought a GoPro kit for $13. I was skeptical but I'm not kidding, I'm impressed. If you've got a GoPro I would highly recommend it.

Erligpowht Common Outdoor Sports Kits for GoPro Hero 4/3+/3/2/1 Cameras and Sj4000/Sj5000 Cameras In Swimming Camping Diving Outing Any Other Outdoor Sports Amazon.com : Erligpowht Common Outdoor Sports Kits for GoPro Hero 4/3+/3/2/1 Cameras and Sj4000/Sj5000 Cameras In Swimming Camping Diving Outing Any Other Outdoor Sports : Camera & Photo

Looks like it jumped to $16. Still worth it.

I'm thinking those best amazon deals are over there in the amazon garage thread.

There's an ancient chinese proverb that goes something along the lines of "if you can find it on amazon, you can find it cheaper elsewhere"...

Yup - AliBaba... the Chinese distributor of the same Chinese-made stuff

Google Shopping is pretty useful too. Get a model/PN from Amazon or wherever and search for it durectly

I love Amazon. The only thing you have to watch about them is they'll overinflate a "sticker price" on an item to make theirs look better. My shopping method is usually an organic search with part# and compare through Google shopping. 7 times out of 10, Amazon is the best.

Same here.
Although I've found a lot of cases where Amazon is exact same price, or close enough, as a local store - Target, Dicks, etc.
Then it's just a question of laziness.

I've been about 50-50 on Amazon being best deal on auto parts too. I usually start w/ Rockauto then compare via p/n.
Amazon doesn't require cores so sometimes it works out better.

yeah but if you have prime then the shipping is free. RockAuto's shipping is too much to consider IMO.
It depends, I add the shipping when comparing. RockAuto almost always has a variety of mfrs or sources to choose parts from, while Amazon will have like 1-2. Sometimes even w/ the free shipping it's not as cheap.
I've also had mixed results w/ parts warranty via Amazon. Sometimes the Amazon seller will bend over to replace it (probably due to fear of competition orpoor reviews) while others just post no info about it and punt you over to the mfr directly.

That's just auto parts though. Almost anything else I've had to return or had an issue w/ on Amazon has been pretty smooth.
Just yesterday, my wife called them about our daughter's Kindle, which she had managed to crack the screen on. We've bought a bunch of them of the last years, couldn't remember which was which. Turns out that one was out of the warranty period, but they offered to just send a replacement for $25 anyway. It's the old 2016 model, I'm sure they're clearing them out, but I won't complain.
