I've been thinking about getting this for a while now, but I have questions for somebody that has Amazon's Fire TV with a Sling TV subscription:

Do the shows stream live (specifically AMC for TWD) when they are normally broadcast or are they on a delay? If there is a delay, how much? 1 hour? 1 day?

Also, would you recommend the orange (30+ channel) or blue (40+ channel) Sling TV subscription or both?

TIA,
Brandon

I use a Roku which functionally is the same for this. We use SlingTV all the time.

The main channels on Sling stream live - you get them AT air time. There may be a delay but it's on the order of <1 minute or something.
Notably - a lot of channels let you back up and watch shows from the beginning, which is pretty convenient. However the main channels, including AMC, do not. They do also have some on-demand content, with the amount varying widely among channels (AMC doesn't have a ton).

We have the basic package, I guess that's the 30 channel one, I haven't looked at their schemes in a while. Plenty happy with it. They recently added like 4 epix channels so you get movies, and all of those you can not only back up at start from beginning but even go back several hours to watch something that aired earlier in the day.
It also includes the ACC network which is super cool b/c they apparently have access to several games at once and you can select which one you want to watch.

btw another neat thing about Sling is you can watch on any device, any time - I have the app on my phone and on Sat I set it on the bench to keep an eye on the Wake/Duke game while doing car stuff. You just can only have 1 stream active at a time so watch out if your wife is watching a movie and you steal it to watch the Walking Dead while on the toilet, lol.

With Sling Blue or Orange + Blue you can have up to 3 streams open at any one time.

With respect to which subscription to get, that's really up to you. For me, to get the shows we watch most it was Sling Blue at $25 a month plus tax. It works out to $26 and change. Take a look at the channel listings per package and make your decision. We've been on it for 3 months now and loving it.

This is exactly the info I was looking for!!

That sounds like something I would do...just need to get a girlfriend/wife first!

Great info! I'm leaning towards Blue since I don't really care about ESPN.

I haven't had a TV in ~9 years now, so on to round 2 of questions:

My only TV requirements is that its able to connect to WiFi & a wall mounted flat screen (probably all they make now?)...just want to get the most bang for my buck.
What should I look for in a TV for something that has good picture quality & will last? Any brand better than the others? LED vs LCD vs OLED? Anything else to keep in mind?

Thanks again,
Brandon

Has Sling fixed their no load lag issue? When I had it last year it was shit....... Of course I was at the GF house and she has att DSL. Even on my cable modem it sucked.....

yes, it is way better now.
I was one of the early adopters last year, and almost dropped it b/c of the load and lag issues. Boy did they catch hell when it kept dropping out at the season opener of the Walking Dead! Too many people using their dinky new serve at once I guess.

The last several months it's been pretty good though.

Yea as soon as I was back at the house with regular cable I dropped it. Only reason I tried it was for TWD. It failed big time for me....

I have Sling Blue. I really like it, currently watching Fox Sports Southeast for the Hornets game. I rarely have problems with it. I think it's worth the price. I use mine on a Roku.
