amc 304 in a tj

and furthermore, why would you want to? Seems to me that there are far better choices out there than the old pig of a 304.

x2 The 304 is a dog of a motor. If you were set on using an AMC engine, you'd be much better off with a 360, but you would still have the emissions hurdle mentioned above

There is nothing wrong with a 304 in a street Jeep, it doesnt compare at all power wise with a 360, or a 401

That being said a 304 in a Tj is not the way to go, like has been said it will not pass inspection

And with that being said, a ax-15 will bolt right up to a 304

I had a CJ with a built 304, nv3550 out of a 2001 TJ, and a dana 300, and it had great road manners, no adapters are needed, clocking ring will help with the hang

If you're going to do all that work to make it work and have less hp than the 4.0. A stock 304 is a waste of time really no improvement and you lose fuel injection.

Best thing if you want more power build a stroker or swap in a bigger motor.
