I'm doing a trans swap in my cj 5 build it have a sm465 with a np205 to go behind my 360. I was told I need a amc pressure plate to match my flywheel but a Chevy 10.5" 10 spline clutch disc for the tranny. Does anybody have a part number for oem clutch disc? Parts stores act like I'm a nuclear engineer when I try to did one

you can use the chevy clutch if you want. it'll give you a little more grab. I don't have the part number but any reputable clutch builder can hook you up. I will say this though, mine didn't last. I ended up getting a McLeod set up that handles high rpms. dumb question, did you get the conversion kit?

Looks like for a 10.5" you are going to need a car clutch not a truck clutch. Should be able to ask for a clutch from a 76 Chevy Monte Carlo with a 5.7 liter and a manual transmission and get a 10.5" clutch with 10 spline.

I found that when I was building my Jeep, I'd have to tell them what vehicle I needed the part for instead of giving them a part number. That way, they could look at the computer and it would tell them where it was instead of them actually knowing what part you are telling them about. I can't count the number of times I had to answer "Does that 1977 International Scout II that you need brake rotors for have air conditioning?" Why does it matter?

I laughed once when a parts store guy asked me "Exactly how many vehicles do you own, anyway?!?!?!" Just one..... :)

I did not get a conversion kit. For some lucky reason the bell housing lines up and I called Novak and they said if the bell housing bolt pattern lines up than it's just a few parts I need and it's easy day.

yeah it's not a big deal. I had my own bellhousing too but I still needed the pilot bushing and longer bearing retainer. One other word of advice, chec kyour 3rd gear bushing. They're known for wearing down and eventually won't hold. I can get 3rd held in if I baby it going on flat ground or downhill. If you try putting it under a load you can forget it. One of my jokes is how I only have 2 gears in my ride.

Yeah my tranny/case came from a running amd driving truck but I have a rebuild kit on hand in case it needs a little refreshing
