AN Fittings

Quick question - do AN fittings need that little rubber seal when mating male-female AN fittings? Or is the 37° metal to metal make the seal?

I’m making some lines and don’t want to do this again. Seems like they’re not required based on reading…. But then why do Evil Energy female fittings always include them in the packaging!?!?

How tight is tight enough? Snug or contact plus some amount of additional turn?

I’m wondering if I over tightened my PS hose fittings now…. Will they leak or just become inseparable?
