Remember back in this thread: http://www.nc4x4.com/forum/index.php?threads/step-right-up-step-right-up-giveaway-time.151389/ I asked for you all to guess the weight of the 55 gallon drum, it's contents and also 4 Ranger doors and 2 Ranger fenders. I made it to the scrap yard today and we have a winner.

There was a few close guesses and I am happy to announce @Joe J. is the winner! Joe guessed 899 pounds and according to the scales at Hendersonville Metal Recyclers the total weight was 900. That's right, @Joe J. was 1 pound off.

Congrats @Joe J. I'll PM you and get your order on the way!

Damn...I was off 14lbs. Based my estimate of our scrap 55 gallon drums of titanium, did a little calculating...and I just weighed a couple 73-79 doors/fenders...maybe if I woulda weighed ranger parts I'd been dead on. Congrats Joe.

Your name was written down and circles until I saw Joe's post.

Got a 3xlt???

But I have to ask...any idea what the itemized weights were??? I know Ti is 56% of the weight of steel. I know my 79 ford fenders are 16lbs each, and doors are 40lbs each. What I don't know is how well those 73-79 parts translated, and how much open air was actually in that drum.

Where's that OCD thread again???

Y'all are going all about this the wrong way, thinking like engineers instead of mathematicians. :D I'll admit it was not a total shot in the dark, I just analyzed the posts before me and took the median average of the people who I thought had more info on this subject than me. I also played it like if I were on the price is right, my thought was 900 lbs but I went with 899 to give me a better statistical chance.

BTW, what is ocd? ;)

Great project management skills.

Step 1: Assemble a group of people who know more about it than you.

Step 2: ...

Step 3: profit

I Agree, Jody got ripped; no way ALL those ring/pinions/gears/barrels/doors, Only weighed 900#! Should have found another scale, & got a comparison weight, before hitting the Scam Yard!
