First off I know it's kinda fighting a losing battle w/ large bias tire...but i'm soooo close to actually having a pretty good riding rig....

Ok, so I got a set of used bias ply tsl's 39.5x15. They are on a new set of 17x9 steelies. Unbalanced all the tires regards of front back left or right all drove like crap. After confirming all steering parts, TRES and alignment was good...I figured I'd try the airsoft pellets to try to balance the bias tsl.

I started out with 12oz in each tire...that helped but didn't fix all the wobble. After about 2lbs of bb's in each tire I'm able to get 3 out of the 4 tires to ride really good up to about 60-65. I'm cool with that speed.:driver:

The problem is one tire regardless of it's on the front or back likes to wobble and hop. I added a total of 44oz or 2.5lbs of pellets to this tire to try to balance it out more, but no change. So I popped the beads and rotated the tire 180degrees on the wheel and now my left and right wobble is pretty much gone (that one tire looked like it was having serious death wobble) where as the other side was tracking fine:shaking:.

So I now have the wobble gone, but the tire looks like it has a serious hop up and down issue. I've been marking the tire/wheel so I can continue to rotate 1/4 of a turn to find a good spot for the combo to be as balanced as it can be....to no luck (the wobble comes back when I rotated it 1/4 turn).

Just wondering if there are anymore ideas...after about 12 times of popping the bead and adding bb's or rotating the rim...it's get a little old :bounce2: I hardly know squat about tires balancing outside of what I've already done....and just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction incase i'm missing something about what to do to get a tire to keep from going up and down???

Old Tires, especially bias ply tires, have a tendency of getting outta round and staying that way regardless of what you do, see it all the time. Its not an issue of balancing, its just outta round, not much you can do bout it other than tuff it out or replace it. Allthou lowering the air pressure to stupid low seems to help sometimes, it does however make the tread you do have left wear quicker.

For instance there have been several guys I know that ran bias ply or just old tires their diesel trucks, once they get to a certain point they just start hopping more and more cause they get outta round . . . only solution, lower em down to like 30 35 psi . . . on a diesel thats low, but it helps ride it out a lil longer.

Wouldn't keep wasting your time trying to balance it, won't fix a out of round tire, find a combo of tire/rim position and air pressure that reduces it as much as possible and roll on.

Yeah i meant to mention I went from 30psi, down to 25 to now 20psi....and no help.

Yeah I'm kinda starting to think the same thing about it just being a lost cause...

Find a big truck or alignment shop that has a tire shaver or truer. That's how you can get your tires round again. It's not a lost cause.
