I am in the middle of trying to swap a fuel cell in my pathfinder. I was going to get a custom one to where I could use my sending unit but it doesn't look like that will be working out. I am curious as to how difficult it would be to wire a gm sending unit up to the factory wiring. My sending unit has 4 wires, I am not sure how many the GM has... Also, would I have to get a regulator to adjust the fuel flow level? TIA

most cells that comes with a sending unit come with a gm sending unit. 0 owns empty, 90 ohms full...

you have 4 wires in your oem sending unit but what are they? fuel pump +, fuel level, ground, and hummmm, i dunno....

either way, a fuel level gauge is only 1 wire and a ground... which it often shares with the pump.

So the GM sending unit does not have the pump built in (like his Nissan pump)?

If that is the case, why not just buy the tank and cut out the GM unit (assuming it is smaller than the nissan pump flange), and bolt in the Nissan one? Could possibly sell the GM unit online.

The RCI cell is nice, about the right depth and size (11" and 15 gallons). Plus, since it comes with the filler neck, the only extra $$$ will be to pay shipping (shouldn't be too much though). That would be my suggestion, but make sure you can shorten the pickup on the Nissan unit before buying one that is shorter.
